Arthur lives in Dallas, Texas and works at B-29 Investments, LP, an oil and gas-focused private equity firm. Arthur graduated from Princeton University in 2012 with an A.B. in Politics and joined the Legacy Council for the Darrell K. Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer’s Disease in 2015 in honor of both his grandfather, Gus Mihalopoulos, who battled the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s in the later years of his life until his passing in late 2013, and a family friend, George Kline, who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in early 2013.

Arthur’s grandfather, Gus Mihalopoulos, was born in Nafpaktos, Greece in 1925.  Gus served honorably in the Greek Army in the resistance against the Nazi regime during WWII, even suffering three gunshot wounds during the war. In 1952, Gus immigrated to the United States and settled in Chicago, Illinois, where he met his wife-to-be, Toula. The two married in 1953 and eventually had three children. By day, Gus worked at the Conrad Hilton hotel, brushing elbows with international dignitaries and American celebrities alike. At night and on the weekends, he helped his wife Toula operate a local hot-dog stand on the South loop of Chicago. The two moved to Dallas when their son Frank decided to attend Southern Methodist University in 1975. In Dallas, Gus opened the Parthenon, which eventually became a popular Greek restaurant in town. Gus went on to buy Jim’s Sandwich Palace on Harry Hines which eventually became the Original Market Diner, which still is still operated by the family today. Gus was a loving grandfather of nine grandchildren and an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church and will be remembered for his lively spirit, his kindness, and his love to dance. He passed away in September 2013 after battling Alzheimer’s during the end of his life.

Arthur witnessed first-hand the effects of Alzheimer’s on his grandfather and has seen the sadness the disease has caused both his own family as well as that of his family friend, George Kline.  As a result, Arthur is determined to do whatever he can to raise awareness in the fight against brain disease.
